Techniques: Splatters

Watch this tutorial or read our instructions below to learn how to make splatters on your pieces!

Have you ever wondered how to make your piece look like it’s been splattered with paint? We have an easy technique to achieve this look!

Start by choosing the color you’d like to use for your splatters. Mix a small amount of paint with a few drops of water, adding more as needed, until your paint reaches a thin, milky consistency.

Once your paint is ready, grab a toothbrush and dip the bristles into the paint. Hold the toothbrush over your piece, pull back on the bristles, and gently release them to create a spray of tiny paint splatters.

Another easy way to create splatters is by using a paint brush. Dip your brush into the watered-down paint and flick the bristles toward your piece to create a variety of splatter sizes. This method gives you a little more control and is perfect for creating larger, more intentional splashes.

Whether you’re going for a subtle speckled look or a bold, colorful effect, splatters are a simple way to add extra personality to your piece!
