Techniques: Drips
Watch this tutorial or read our instructions below to learn how to do drips on your piece!
Adding drips to your piece is easier than you might think, and it's a fun way to create a unique, one-of-a-kind look!
Start by choosing your desired paint colors and mixing each with a small amount of water until the paint reaches a thin, watery consistency. It should be fluid enough to easily flow down the side of your piece.
Next, load your brush with plenty of paint and gently dab it along the area where you'd like the drips to begin. If the paint isn't dripping as much as you'd like, simply add a little more water to your brush or the paint and let gravity do the work. Tilt your piece to help the drips go farther.
Use your brush to smooth out, extend, or clean up any drips until you're happy with the final design. Remember, no two drip patterns are ever exactly the same.
Whether you’re creating a bold statement piece, or you’re just looking for a fun way to add some color, this easy technique is the perfect way to achieve that for any level of artist!
